Windows Media Player is one of the best media players for Windows OS but many people avoid using it as their main player because it supports very few formats as Microsoft ships it with Windows without much codec’s built-in. But now you can play just any file of any format in Windows Media Player by just installing a small package.

Though Windows Media Player has been ignored by many but I still prefer using WMP because of its strong integration with Windows and other apps. And now you can also bypass the limitation of playing limited formats by installing a small package known as K-Lite Codec package, so you get another reason to love Windows Media Player.

What is a ‘Codec’?

Well I know you actually don’t need a definition of Codec here but for those who are concerned about dear computers and are not familiar about the term ‘Codec’, here is an extract from Wikipedia:

A codec is a device or computer program capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal. It encodes a data stream or signal for transmission, storage or encryption, or decodes it for playback or editing.

Just imagine codec as a driver to compress/encode and decompress/decode the stream which is stored in a particular file. And there are different types of stream and formats, so a player needs to understand the method of decoding it before it can play the file’s content and codec helps the player in doing that job.

What is a K-Lite Codec Package?

Back to our K-Lite Package, this package has different versions from Basic to Mega and many others too which contain all sorts of codec’s and with the help of this package you can play many more types of file formats in Windows Media Player.

K-Lite Package is frequently updated so you can update at any time if you think the newly launched codec is missing in your system. You can also un-install this package any time you want. More information about the K-Lite Codec Package is available here.

Download K-Lite Codec Package

K-Lite Codec Package has different variants to suit everyone’s need from Basic to Mega and a special Corporate Edition. To find the one that best suits you, visit the CodecGuide site to download the one of your need.

Just open it and then drag and drop the file or a folder into the CyberShredder window and the software starts its work. It deletes files using three different shredding methods, including the seven-pass file deletion method. The files once deleted with CyberShredder cannot be recovered using any file recovery software.
