Microsoft offered people to celebrate the Windows 7 Launch Day and in return Microsoft provided them with a “Special Signature Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate” to the all the party host which is signed by Steve Ballmer. As Microsoft as expecting this attracted a lot of crowd towards the program and thousands of entries were enrolled. Microsoft marketing and house Party team short listed the host and luckily we were the one to be in.

Here are few pictures of the kit which arrived in yesterday noon. The kit contains:

Ten Tote Bags.

Two Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition (32-bit & 64-bit) with one genuine license.

A puzzle.

Bunch of Napkins.

A huge poster.

A hanging banner.

2 Papers with party idea’s and instructions.

Windows 7 is no doubt, a true winner. We have been using RC edition for months now and it just make us felt “This is My PC”. Almost all of our old software’s ran without any glitches. Stunning graphics, ubercool features, and the most important thing “Stability” is what we have found in Windows 7.

Now the question is why Windows Vista More >

Windows 7 is the currently the hottest topic in the Tech World. Why? Answer is “Its Freakingly Awesome” as the experts say! Most of the A-group bloggers, techies and popular tech sites over the internet has been pushing its name as the “Best Upcoming OS after Windows Xp”. Now the question is why Windows Vista did not got this praise? Why the market pulled Vista’s leg back?

When Microsoft released Vista, most of the old Xp programs failed to work or gave errors as the console was revamped by Microsoft. Vista had much better security features like User Account Control but those few extra clicks by UAC annoyed people. Things looked to be quite different in Windows Vista at that time from the predecessor Windows Xp which made many people uncomfortable as they got used-to the Xp Interface.

Windows 7 Boot Logo

Microsoft realized this in time and thus they thought of now continuing the console, looks and features of Vista and making Windows 7 more useful, powerful and less sucking than Vista. Microsoft has been putting a lot of effort to push Windows 7 as a successful operating system.

Also when Vista was in development, no one ever thought that netbooks will attract such a huge crowd and build such a huge share in computing. Microsoft engineers didn’t pay much attention to make Vista compatible for the netbooks as if energy management was not giving much consideration. When Vista was released the netbooks share raised very rapidly, nearly all major notebook makers also jumped into netbook market with the demand. The techie minds didn’t like the Vista’s performance on netbooks thus giving them another point to discourage vista.

After the release of Vista in January’07, some market experts had a hint of the upcoming recession time. And their expectations actually came right. Now when the companies were throwing out humans from jobs how could they ever think of expanding on machine power. This became another reason of less outputs from Vista for Microsoft. Now as per the experts, recession time is at its end and should be completely over by October’09. This is the same time when Windows 7 is expected to release. Now that puts an obvious reason for its perfect sales.

As of today most of the software makers have already released separate versions for Vista and Win7 is revamped on the Vista console only. Thus it is found capable of running Vista Compatible software very easily. Windows 7 also have got the ‘XP Mode’ for those who still don’t have their software’s working on the latest OS but that’s very small share of market. XP mode is surely going to be helpful for many but its limited to certain processors only as it uses the Visualization technology which at present very few processors in market support it. So before relying on Windows 7 for running your old software’s, make a check that you hardware supports it.

There are plenty more reason such as enhanced and easy to use interface which looks familiar to that of vista which now has been adopted by many users now. Other things that adds to its upcoming success is less annoying and customizable action center in which you can specify that of what things it should warn you about. Even now UAC or User Account Control’s nagging windows can be customized to fit your needs. UAC annoys sometimes but I feel very much secure while using Vista or Windows 7 as I know what’s actually happening in my system.

The all new taskbar and its jumplists looked odd on the first day I used Windows7 but then its usefulness changed my mind to reconsider about it. I found pinning items on taskbar actually makes sense and it saved a lot of time as I don’t have to search for my daily apps in my desktop clutter. Even webpages can pinned on jumplists of Internet Explorer. Also IE8 is not that annoying as I thought it would be but still it needs to go a long way to compete with Mozilla Firefox (for customization with addons) and Google Chrome (for speed, as of now).

I feel Windows 7 as the real market beater OS arriving at the right time with right features that don’t s*ck on users. Vista was not bad but the conditions in which it was released didn’t help him to prove in as a very successfull Operating System.

Windows 7 has been loved by the beta testers and so they are eagerly waiting for the Windows 7 RC1 which is officially due sometime next month. But some of the naughty minds have teased users with torrents that claim to be the upcoming Windows 7 RC1. These fake builds not only carry the potential of harming your system but may also expose your data to those naughty minds who build it.

The Windows 7 (7048) build is actually built by editing the 7041 or 7046 according to the W7info, a windows 7 dedicated blog. And its mighty true that a RC1 release can’t come out until is completed by the perks working at Microsoft.

The fake build is hugely circulated by torrents and may carry potentially harmful software which are likely to expose your confidential data to the fellows who build those fake built. No one would like to have a pre-infected OS in their system.7

I was shocked to see that some of the good blogs also murmered the news to its reader without confirming. Though we won’t see a RC built soon but its clear that 7048 build is a fake. Microsoft has plans to release the first RC build sometime next month.

Windows Vista has a default setting of showing the Sleep Button at Start Menu instead of the Shutdown Button which was seen in old versions of Windows like Windows Xp. Whenever a person is introduced to the Windows Vista for the first time, he usually confuses the Sleep Button with the Shutdown Button. However being deep inside control panel, but this setting can be customized in Windows Vista.

To change this setting, follow the below procedure:

Click Start and then Control Panel.

Go to Hardware and Sound followed by Power Options.

Under any of the Power Plans, click on Change plan settings.

Then click on Change advanced power settings.

Now under Power buttons and lid, go to Start menu power button.

Here you can select the type of button you want on start menu. (You can also customize different settings while the computer is on battery or on power and even for different power plans separately.)

Optional: Repeat the above procedure for different power profiles.

Now you can customize the default button but remember Windows Vista has various power profiles, so you need to change this setting for every profile as you may use different profiles at different times.

Microsoft had announced the new version of Windows Family at the PDC (Professional Developer Conference 2008) event just a few days ago. Windows 7 or the upgraded version of Windows Vista was in development from long time and Microsoft already distributed the alpha version of Windows 7 to the developers inside a free 160 GB USB hard disk at the event.

Microsoft also agrees with the annoyances of Vista and claims that this version of Windows will be much better than the previous builds. It will have a much-less annoying UAC prompts, Dynamic Update, better looks, and the best of all Windows 7 will be much stable as the Microsoft is not in a hurry of releasing it, as they did with the vista.

Some naughty minds got their hands on the latest version of Windows and have already uploaded it on the Internet. The OS is available for download to public via torrents and file-sharing networks.

If you want to download the Windows 7 pre-beta release why not just search at Google with the following query:

http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7+torrent

You can expect the BETA build in December 2008 or January 2009. Rumors say the final build of Windows 7 will be out somewhere in 2009 but Microsoft is not at all in a hurry of releasing it so early. Thus the we still have to wait for a year to see Windows 7 at our desktops.
