Hp-LogoHewlett-Packard popularly known as HP, has recalled the batteries sold with their laptops for the fourth time in two consecutive years. These batteries were built in China and are suspected to overheat and may even catch fire and cause harm to the consumers. Consumers of such defected batteries are given instructions to immediately remove batteries from their system and run their laptops on main power (without battery plugged-in) until the replacement battery arrives.

About 70,000 batteries are found as defective and HP will be giving a free replacement to such owners. These batteries include those sold with HP laptops and also those which were sold separately. The lithium-ion batteries made in china have always been an issue for companies. Last year Nokia replaced thousands of batteries of BL-5C model as they were found to be unusually expanding and overheating.
