windows-7-la-guardiaWindows 7 is the currently the hottest topic in the Tech World. Why? Answer is “Its Freakingly Awesome” as the experts say! Most of the A-group bloggers, techies and popular tech sites over the internet has been pushing its name as the “Best Upcoming OS after Windows Xp”. Now the question is why Windows Vista did not got this praise? Why the market pulled Vista’s leg back?

When Microsoft released Vista, most of the old Xp programs failed to work or gave errors as the console was revamped by Microsoft. Vista had much better security features like User Account Control but those few extra clicks by UAC annoyed people. Things looked to be quite different in Windows Vista at that time from the predecessor Windows Xp which made many people uncomfortable as they got used-to the Xp Interface.

Microsoft realized this in time and thus they thought of now continuing the console, looks and features of Vista and making Windows 7 more useful, powerful and less sucking than Vista. Microsoft has been putting a lot of effort to push Windows 7 as a successful operating system.

Also when Vista was in development, no one ever thought that netbooks will attract such a huge crowd and build such a huge share in computing. Microsoft engineers didn’t pay much attention to make Vista compatible for the netbooks as if energy management was not giving much consideration. When Vista was released the netbooks share raised very rapidly, nearly all major notebook makers also jumped into netbook market with the demand. The techie minds didn’t like the Vista’s performance on netbooks thus giving them another point to discourage vista.

After the release of Vista in January’07, some  market experts had a hint of the upcoming recession time. And their expectations actually came right. Now when the companies were throwing out humans from jobs how could they ever think of expanding on machine power. This became another reason of less outputs from Vista for Microsoft. Now as per the experts, recession time is at its end and should be completely over by October’09. This is the same time when Windows 7 is expected to release. Now that puts an obvious reason for its perfect sales.

Compatible With Windows 7

As of today most of the software makers have already released separate versions for Vista and Win7 is revamped on the Vista console only. Thus it is found capable of running Vista Compatible software very easily. Windows 7 also have got the ‘XP Mode’ for those who still don’t have their software’s working on the latest OS but that’s very small share of market. XP mode is surely going to be helpful for many but its limited to certain processors only as it uses the Visualization technology which at present very few processors in market support it. So before relying on Windows 7 for running your old software’s, make a check that you hardware supports it.

There are plenty more reason such as enhanced and easy to use interface which looks familiar to that of vista which now has been adopted by many users now. Other things that adds to its upcoming success is less annoying and customizable action center in which you can specify that of what things it should warn you about. Even now UAC or User Account Control’s nagging windows can be customized to fit your needs. UAC annoys sometimes but I feel very much secure while using Vista or Windows 7 as I know what’s actually happening in my system.

The all new taskbar and its jumplists looked odd on the first day I used Windows7 but then its usefulness changed my mind to reconsider about it. I found pinning items on taskbar actually makes sense and it saved a lot of time as I don’t have to search for my daily apps in my desktop clutter.  Even webpages can pinned on jumplists of Internet Explorer. Also IE8 is not that annoying as I thought it would be but still it needs to go a long way to compete with Mozilla Firefox (for customization with addons) and Google Chrome (for speed, as of now).

I feel Windows 7 as the real market beater OS arriving at the right time with right features that don’t s*ck on users. Vista was not bad but the conditions in which it was released didn’t help him to prove in as a very successfull Operating System. (Image Source: La Guardia)
