New SDXC Memory Card can hold 2TB of Data
We see new shapes and sizes of gadgets with little bit improvement almost every week. Every company has a habit of raising the features in their products slowly but continuously. Such a case is with the memory cards which we use in our day to day devices such as mobiles, digital cameras, etc. But at the CES 2009, a huge development is seen in memory cards. The new cards known as SDXC (eXtended Capacity) are capable of offering up to 2TB of storage on a single card. Unbelievable? Believe it!
These cards not only offer huge storage capacity but also they offer robust read/write speeds up to 104 MB per second but they have a plan to raise it to 300 MB per second. It can hold up to 2TB of data that is 2048GB. Such a high read/write speed and storage will revolutionize the way we use mobiles, camera’s and that every device which uses the memory cards.
This storage will pump up the limits of the the portable devices such as digital cameras in which 2TB will help to store 4000 images in RAW format which professional use for their work or 17,000 full high resolution compressed images suitable for consumer usage or 1,36,000 fine-grade photos. Also the the high demanding and upcoming High Definition (HD) Technology equipped camcorders can will be capable of recording days of video without a hitch. To be exact it can hold up to 480 hours of HD video.
These cards may also act as a primary HD for your netbook. Just imagine a 2TB swappable HD in your netbook. Thought it is a prototype yet but SDXC technology promises such configuration and will be released some time this year. As it is in development stage only, no words on price yet. [Thanks sdcard.org]
